How to withdraw a business filing before it takes effect

If you need to withdraw a business filing submitted on Business.CT.gov , please follow these instructions to receive a Certificate of Withdrawal. Please note, you can only do this before the business filing takes effect. Only LLCs are eligible at this time and expedited service is not available for this action.

  1. Log into your Business.CT dashboard.
  2. Navigate to “Withdraw a filing prior to effective date.”
  3. Follow the prompts to the Business Search tool.
  4. Select or search your business.
  5. After selecting your business, you can view all filings associated with your account.
  6. If the filing status is Approved or Pending Filing, and the effective date is in the future, the filing is eligible to be withdrawn.
  7. After selecting an eligible filing to withdraw, follow the prompts to the acknowledgement screen.
  8. Complete the acknowledgement and proceed to payment. The fee to withdraw a filing is $120.
  9. After successfully completing payment, your filing should show a new status of “Withdrawn.”
  10. You’ll receive an email notification with your “Certificate of Withdrawal of Filed Record Prior to Taking Effect.”
